Robowealth Work EP. 1  Today we introduce work (and money) attitudes all of us probably believed to be “good” but, in reality, is not true at all. Let’s see what they are.

(Notice: These ideas originate from the USA which are both highly developed and capitalism focused. They may not be entirely applicable to Thai society. Apply them with careful consideration.)

 

1. #workforothers

Its good to work for others, right? How is this not true? What we are trying to communicate is that:

“Do not waste your life doing small favors for others. Invest your time and effort to improve your own life, especially if you are talented.”

If you are someone who’s talented in a certain field but you spend your time doing something else (even for other people) rather than cultivating your skill, you lose the chance to become the very best in that specific field. That would be a huge missed opportunity where you could have changed the world for the better but have lost the chance to.

For example, if people like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates who have changed the world used most of their time to volunteer in some remote places in the world rather than using it to develop their businesses, there would not be giant corporations as we are seeing today. That would cost hundreds of thousands of employments which are definitely more helpful to people than doing volunteer work.

Therefore, time should be spent on self-development since it is not too late to provide for charity after you have reached the peak of your success and are able to help much more than you are currently able to.

 

2. Your 20s are the best time of your life #YOLO

If 20-30 is the best time of your life, you should make the best use of it by eating, traveling, partying, shopping as much as you can since you will never have the chance to do it again.

However, this period is not the time to indulge in entertainment but rather to be use for self-development. By the age of 30, the people who have led each of the 2 lifestyle would end up very differently.

If you have dedicated you 20-30s to having fun, you may only earn 2-3 times of your starting salary by the age of 30. But if you have worked hard on self-development, you may earn 10 times your starting salary by the age of 30 which still would not be too late to enjoy the activities you wanted to do, travel to places you wanted to go and party as much as you want with much larger financial support.

 

3. #saveyourmoney #dontriskit

It is still commonly believed that it is best to save money in the bank with no risk when, in reality, taking no risk at all is the riskiest. Just leaving cash in the bank is already costing you, but who’s taking away our money?

This is not the works of any thief but rather a consequence of “inflation”. For example, if the inflation rate is 3% and the bank only gives you 1% interest then we are already losing 2% per year!!!

As a result, the best method to deal with risk is to manage and diversify it by seeking knowledge in investment and invest in such a way that beats inflation. Do not keep all your money in the bank!!!

 

4. #dontstop #evenifyoufail

We often hear motivational quotes telling us to keep going and keep fighting until we are finally successful.

In reality, not everyone is suitable for their preferred profession or can achieve what they aspire to be. Simply put, there are not enough jobs to cover the desire of everyone. What we should do is find out what is right for us and when we should stop.

The reason to stop is to prevent wasting time on something that may not be right for us so that more time can be spent on something that we can become one of the best in.

 

5. #business #fair50-50split

Let us start by discussing employee compensation for a certain company. For the same amount of work, 2 positions may be compensated differently based on:

-Skill required for the specific job. Rare skill requires higher pay.

-How much money does it earn for the business. The more money it makes, the higher the pay.

-Difficulty of replacement. The harder it is to replace, the higher the pay.

If someone possesses a rare skill, makes a lot of money for the business and is difficult to replace, then makes sense for that person to obtain higher compensation.

Now, when discussing business partnerships, each member will have different areas of expertise, have different workload with varying difficulties and have different ease of replacement. Therefore, it may not make sense to perform an equal 50-50 to each member in all cases.
